SmartStop: a promo built on the decision

The brief

Self storage is bought at a difficult moment. People are moving, downsizing, dividing a household or running out of room in a business. Nobody wakes up wanting a storage unit, which means the film is not selling a unit, it is reducing the anxiety attached to the situation.

So the useful material is not the facility. It is clean, well lit, secure and easy to get to, and showing that takes about fifteen seconds. The rest of the film is about how simple the process is, because complexity is what people are afraid of.

Filming on site is straightforward technically and awkward practically: corridors are narrow, lighting is functional rather than flattering, and the spaces are deliberately anonymous. It takes added lighting and careful lens choice to make a storage corridor look like somewhere you would happily leave your possessions.

The result is cut for a landing page and for paid placement, where it is competing against price comparison rather than against another brand film.

How this work gets made

Sell the situation, not the unit

People arrive mid-move or mid-change. The film works by making the next step feel easy.

Lighting a functional space

Storage corridors are lit for cost, not for camera. Added light is what makes them look secure rather than grim.

Cut for paid placement

This kind of film competes with price comparison, so it is built for a landing page and a feed.

How long does it take?

About four weeks from shoot to final delivery for a single film.

What does it cost?
