Retail and ecommerce video production

We film for consumer product brands, DTC sellers and retailers: product and lifestyle films, marketplace and listing video, 3D and animated explainers, paid ads and the vertical cutdowns that carry a launch.

Seven product films on this page. Most were shot in batches, because one studio day covering a whole catalogue is the only way listing video pays for itself. Or build your own estimate in two minutes.

How a product shoot runs

Six steps from scope to delivery, and about four weeks from shoot day to the final film.

  1. Planning which products a catalogue shoot will cover
Scope and the catalogue listWe agree which products, which shots each one needs, and which channels each cut has to fit.
  2. Release paperwork and product samples prepared before a shoot
Paperwork and product deliveryTalent releases and usage terms are agreed, and the product samples arrive before the shoot day rather than on it.
  3. Building a product shot list for a studio catalogue day
Studio and shot listWe book our Irvine stage, build the shot list per product, and stack the day so the whole catalogue is covered.
  4. Filming a consumer product under controlled studio lighting
FilmingControlled lighting, macro passes, in-use coverage and vertical framing captured on the day rather than cropped later.
  5. Editing product video into marketplace and social versions
Edit, grade and versionsFirst cut, two rounds of notes, a grade that keeps the product colour honest, captions, and a version per channel.
  6. Delivering finished product video files
Deliver and protect the footageMasters, marketplace-spec files and social cutdowns, with footage access limited to the people you name.

Which product video do you need?

Four formats cover most of what a consumer brand buys. Pick by where the video has to sit.

What retail and ecommerce video production means here

Retail and ecommerce video production is the making of films for consumer product brands, DTC sellers and retailers: product and listing video, lifestyle and brand films, 3D and animated explainers, unboxing and demonstration content, paid ads and vertical social batches. 7 Hills Productions has produced this work for Cuckoo, MegaGear, Alvantor and Chala, from a studio in Irvine, California.

One studio day usually covers several products, which is what turns listing video from a per-product cost into a catalogue cost.

1Who is it for?

Consumer product and DTC brands, appliance and electronics makers, outdoor and home goods, accessories and apparel, marketplace and Amazon sellers, and the agencies buying on their behalf.

2What does it cost?

A product film runs $6,000 to $12,500, and a lifestyle or brand film $9,000 to $13,500. A catalogue day covering several products lowers the cost per product sharply.

3How long does it take?

About four weeks from shoot day to the final film, with two rounds of notes built in.

What product video costs in Southern California

Real ranges rather than a call for a quote. Every number below assumes one crew, one studio day and one finished film.

Retail and ecommerce video pricing, 2026
PackageTypical rangeWhat it covers
Product and listing film$6,000–$12,500One studio day, hero plus macro and in-use passes

3D or animated explainer$6,000–$15,000Modelling, animation and finishing, no shoot day
Paid ad or vertical batch$6,000–$25,000Concept, shoot day and a version per channel
Studio day at our Irvine stage$750–$1,500Stage only, crew and equipment quoted separately
Extra cutdown$750Any additional cut from footage already shot

Building your own scope? Pre-production runs $1,000 to $1,500, a shoot day $6,000 to $8,000, and editing $2,000 to $4,000 per finished film. Cutdowns are $750 each. A second finished film from the same footage adds an edit fee, not another shoot day. These match our pricing page and budget estimator.

Why consumer brands hire us

We own the stage

Our Irvine studio means a long day without location fees, and a whole catalogue shot back to back.

Colour has to be honest

A product graded to look good and arrive different is a returns problem. We grade against the real thing.

Vertical shot vertical

Social and marketplace verticals are framed on the day. Cropping a horizontal hero is why most listing verticals look wrong.

Animation where the camera stops

Filtration, mechanism and what happens inside the product are animated rather than implied.

Versions, not one file

Every channel has its own specification. You get the versions, not a master you have to re-cut yourself.

Catalogue economics

Several products on one stage day is the difference between listing video being viable and being a luxury.

Product and ecommerce video FAQs

How much does a product video cost?

A product or listing film runs $6,000 to $12,500. A catalogue day covering several products runs $8,000 to $18,000 and costs far less per product.

How long does it take?

About four weeks from shoot day to the final film. Booking usually runs two to three weeks ahead.

Can you film several products in one day?

Yes, and it is the right way to buy this. We build a shot list per product and stack the day so a whole catalogue is covered.

Do you cut versions for Amazon and other marketplaces?

Yes. Each channel has its own length, aspect and format rules, and you get the versions rather than one master to re-cut.

Can you show what happens inside the product?

Yes. 3D and animation cover mechanism, filtration and anything a camera cannot reach, with no shoot day needed.

Will the colour on screen match the product?

Yes. We grade against the physical product and your pack references rather than applying a look preset.

Do you have a studio?

Yes, in Irvine. The stage runs $750 to $1,500 a day on its own, and it is where most catalogue work happens.

Do you ship product back?

Yes. Samples are logged in and returned, and we agree handling before anything arrives.

Who owns the footage?

You do. You get the finished films and the masters, and access to the raw footage is limited to the people you name.

Tell us the products, the channels they have to fill and roughly when you need them. You get a written scope and a number back, usually the same day.
