The brief

Diversified Communications runs trade shows and conferences at a scale where the event itself is the product. Intersolar is the flagship of our work with them, and we have covered it and other events for six years, travelling across the country as the calendar moves.

A trade show is the hardest kind of event to film well. It is loud, it is lit badly, it is enormous, and the things worth capturing happen in four places at once. The answer is preparation rather than heroics: a floor plan marked up before the doors open, scheduled interview slots rather than hoping to catch people, and a controlled corner for testimonials so the audio is usable.

The deliverables are wider than a highlight film. Exhibitor and attendee testimonials, expert soundbites from the speakers, same-day edits that go out while the floor is still open, and a photography set delivered alongside the video so the marketing team has both from one booking.

Same-day editing changes what an event film is for. A cut that publishes on the evening of day one sells tickets for day two and sets the tone for next year. A cut that lands three weeks later is an archive.

Six years of coverage means there is now a consistent visual record. Year on year the events look like a series rather than a set of unrelated videos, which is worth more to a sales team than any single film.

How this work gets made

Planned off the floor plan

Positions, interview slots and a testimonial corner marked up before the doors open, because a show floor gives you no time to work it out live.

Same-day edits

Cuts published while the event is still running, which is the only window in which an event film sells anything.

Video and stills together

One booking covers both, so the marketing team is not coordinating two suppliers in the same aisle.

Consistent year on year

Six years of coverage in one visual language, so the back catalogue works as a body of evidence.

Questions about this work

Do you travel for events?

Yes. This work runs across the United States, following the event calendar.

Can you deliver a cut during the event?

Yes. Same-day editing is part of this work, with an editor on site rather than back at base.

Do you cover photography as well as video?

Yes, both from the same booking.

Can you capture exhibitor and attendee testimonials?

That is often the highest value deliverable from a show. It needs a controlled corner and scheduled slots, both planned in advance.
